The Marcellus Wade Scholarship will award two (2) Scholarships to each of the two annually selected recipients. Exemplifying integrity, honor, commitment and lifelong courage is one of the greatest tributes that young individuals can do to serve the memory of Marcellus Wade. Funding for the scholarships is provided by donations made by. The two-year scholarship is distributed once per year during freshman and sophomore years (second-year funding depends on successful completion of the first academic year).
The Marcellus Wade Fund goal is to provide a scholarship opportunity to like-minded recipients who will continue to honor and recognize the character, the dedication to education, and the continued perseverance to achieve personal and civic achievements that were held in such high regard to Marcellus. It is more than an opportunity to have financial and academic support: it is an opportunity to continue the legacy of such a great spirit and his final moments in valor.
The purpose of the scholarship fund is twofold. First, is to award a scholarship to an individual interested in education. Second, is to award a scholarship to an individual who is interested in pursuing . Priority will be given to individuals who live in Flint, Michigan. The scholarship is to assist with the cost of attending an accredited institution of higher learning or other equivalent institutions.
Individuals selected for the Marcellus Wade Scholarship will be determined based on financial need. The amount awarded in a given academic year will be up to $2000 to assist students with the cost of tuition, fees, certifications, or books for the academic year. The number and the amount of the grants may change over time depending on the effectiveness of fund raising efforts and or donations.
