FLINT FOR JUSTICE
On Wednesday, July 20th over 100 residents came out to New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church for the first of many "Bridging The Gap" forums between law enforcement and the community. There were many questions asked from our community as well as by organizers and community activist April Cook and Pastor Jeffery Hawkins. Careese Jackman, news
reporter for abc channel 12 was the moderator for the event. The Flint Police Department Chief Timothy Johnson, Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell, Lieutenant Thomas Kish from the Michigan State Police and Julie Lopez from Crime Stoppers USA was the special guest on the panel. In the light of what our nation has experienced with shootings committed by law enforcement and the retaliation by citizens the objective of the forum is to bring law enforcement and the community together to strenghten a relationship between the two. There will be another community forum in three to four weeks.

PLUMBERS UNIONS SHOWING UP IN A BIG WAY
What an awesome collaboration between UA Local 370 Plumbers and Pipefitters, P. O. P. and Hiphop4Flint! With a heart of generosity Local 370 purchased and donated one thousand shower filtres and shower heads to Flint residents. The registration came through the church and the plumbers took them door to door installing them to all those who needed the assistance. The instant relief that these showers filters offer has continued to recieve great reviews. Hats off to Local 370 for their generosity and a job well done!

COPING WITH STRESS
Here are four simple techniques for managing stress:
1. Positive Self-Talk
Self-talk is one way to deal with stress. We all talk to ourselves; sometimes we talk out loud but usually we keep self-talk in our heads.
2. Emergency Stress Stoppers
There are many stressful situations — at work, at home, on the road and in public places. We may feel stress because of poor communication, too much work and everyday hassles like standing in line.
3. Finding Pleasure
When stress makes you feel bad, do something that makes you feel good. Doing things you enjoy is a natural way to fight off stress.
4. Daily Relaxation
Relaxation is more than sitting in your favorite chair watching TV. To relieve stress, relaxation should calm the tension in your mind and body. Some good forms of relaxation are yoga, tai chi (a series of slow, graceful movements) and meditation.

A PREDESTINED PLAN
FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
Posted July 1, 2016
11 All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
12 And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.
13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.
14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Have you ever asked the question: Why Me?
Esther was chosen to be queen so she could save her people. God has placed you where you are for a reason. Maybe it’s to help the needy in your community, or to reach to the non-believers in your workplace, or for you to discover a new part of God’s plan for you. What ever the reason may be, remember that just like Esther, you were born for this. You were born for where you are and where you will be. You are born to hear from God and to change the world around you, most of all, you were born to enter a relationship with God and to be His light in the world. Three things you can take from this:
* Position: God has positioned you for your good and His glory.
* Purpose: God has a purpose for you and has already worked it out.
*Plight: Though life has challenges God already knows our struggles.
